Beloved Husband, Father, Veteran, and Community Leader
Dannie Jack Hoover, age 78, of Pampa, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026, surrounded by his devoted family.
Born August 22, 1947, in Guymon, Oklahoma, to Leo and Ruth Hoover, Dannie led a life marked by dedication, service, and deep love for his family and community.
He graduated from Guymon High School in 1965 and furthered his studies at Panhandle State in Goodwell, Oklahoma, earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a minor in science. Dannie continued his education at Oklahoma University, where he completed a master’s degree in Secondary Administration. His commitment to service extended to his country; he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict, serving from 1968 to 1970. His military journey included basic training at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas, followed by assignments as a personnel specialist in Atlanta, Georgia, and Stuttgart, Germany, before being honorably discharged as an E-5 from Ft. Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. Shortly after, he married his high school and college sweetheart, Angie Peppers, on June 7, 1971, in Guymon.
Dannie’s career was as diverse as it was accomplished. He served as Deputy Sheriff, dispatcher, and jailor for Sheriff Robert Bauer in Guymon, Oklahoma, and explored opportunities as a car salesman. He coached American Legion Baseball, taught science at West Junior High in Liberal, Kansas, and served as high school principal in Walsh, Colorado, and Boise City, Oklahoma. He became a licensed realtor in Colorado in 1979 and later became Superintendent of schools in Bridge Creek, Oklahoma. In August 1983, Dannie began a long and successful career as a State Farm Insurance Sales agent in Pampa, where he worked until his retirement in December 2016. Throughout his tenure, he received many awards and distinctions, including multiple State Farm honors, recognition by the Republican Congressional Committee’s Business Advisory Council, and membership in Cambridge Who’s Who for Executives, Professionals, and Entrepreneurs.
• State Farm National Convention Honors and travel to various notable destinations
• Eight-time State Farm Auto Honor Agent
• Twelve-time State Farm Fire Agent
• Named among the top business leaders by the Republican Congressional Committee’s Business Advisory Council (2003)
• Recognized for contributions to Ronald McDonald House, Special Olympics, and Statue of Liberty restoration
• Cambridge Who’s Who member (2008)
Active in civic and community affairs, Dannie was a member of the Top of Texas Kiwanis, the Lion’s Club of Pampa, and the Vietnam Veterans of America (chapter 404 of Borger), where he held roles as vice president, chaplain, and national/state convention delegate. He also served as church business board chairman at Saint Paul’s Methodist Church in Pampa.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Dannie enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching baseball and softball well into his 50s, and was an avid pool player. He was a passionate supporter at his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and musical events, always their loudest and proudest fan.
Dannie’s love extended to animals, especially Samoyed dogs, often traveling great distances to welcome a new puppy into the family. Known for his wisdom, humor, and generous spirit, Dannie befriended and supported those in need, easily striking up conversations and brightening the lives around him with his “gift of gab.”
Above all, Dannie was a devoted family man—deeply protective, loving, and compassionate toward his loved ones, always ensuring their well-being and happiness. His presence will be profoundly missed.
