Evon Carolyn McCabe, 89, of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Pampa.

Services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor at First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Evon was born and raised on the family’s farm, 1 ¾ miles east of Burns Flat, Oklahoma. Her twin sister, Uvon, and her were the first twins to be born in that area. They were the first twins that Dr. Jones delivered. She graduated from Burns Flat School in 1952. Evon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Burns Flat, Oklahoma. She married Doyle Richardson on December 27, 1953. They had two children, Constance and Duane. Doyle passed away on March 8, 1995.

Evon was employed at Citizens Bank and Trust for about seven years, Dr. Jim Alexander, a dentist for one year, Dr. Robert Lyle for one year, and was the secretary at the Pampa Mall for nine years. She retired in 1995. Evon loved to water ski, fish, and hunt for quail and dove. She met Gerald McCabe on February 8, 2008 at a dance club at the Chamber of Commerce Building. Gerald loved to hunt, fish, and dance too. He took Evon pheasant hunting, one time and she shot her first pheasant at the age of 75.

Evon went to church with Gerald at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where he was a member. They were married at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic church on September 7, 2012. He passed away on December 28, 2013. They were a very special couple.

Evon was preceded in death by her parents; Allen I. Hall and Beth Hall; her brother, E. Allen Hall; and two sisters, Doris Eckroat and Hazel McLaughlin.

She is survived by her daughter, Constance Herman and husband Ben; her son, Duane Richardson and wife Mary; four granddaughters, Chelsea Randolph and husband Matt, Amy Robbins and husband Jeremy, Candace Dudgeon and fiancé Chris Howell, Leigh Anna Campbell and husband Ryder Campbell; her twin sister, Uvon Todd and husband John; great-grandchildren, Garhett Rose, Grant Spencer, Gavin Spencer, Abby Jo Robbins, Reese Robbins, Baylor Moore, McKinley Moore, Erin Dudgeon, Zandalin Dudgeon, and Joseph Randolph; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; one special niece, Karen Wallace; and her special neighbor and helpful friend, Chris Wagner.
