The Pampa Lady Harvesters (17-12, 3-6) fell to the West Plains Wolves (25-11, 7-2) at McNeely Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.
The game was also Future Lady Harvester night.
“Before the match, we talked about remembering why we picked up a volleyball and sitting in the stands as a future Lady Harvester. Play for that little girl and all the ones that were watching on Tuesday night because they are our loudest cheerleaders at times,” Head Coach Abbey Kashwer said.
The Lady Harvesters dropped the match in three sets with the scores 25-14, 25-15, and 25-15.
Despite suffering another loss, Kashwer is not upset with the performance put on by the Lady Harvesters.
“All season, I have never had to worry about this group playing hard or playing as one team. Their effort, heart, and discipline are present every match,” Kashwer said.
West Plains is a very good volleyball team with only two losses so far in district play.
“We gave credit where credit was due – West Plains has girls that can crank on a ball. We played out kind of defense, had ball control, and served aggressively. We just need to keep improving in our weaker areas, so we can keep battling for a spot in the playoffs,” Kashwer said.
Next up for Pampa is the rival Bulldogs from Borger on Saturday.
“Borger will always be a competitive match because of the rivalry, but it is also a match that can help with our chances of playoffs and gain confidence going into matches next week,” Kashwer said.
Another critical match in the playoff race will be Hereford on Tuesday night.
“The match vs Hereford is big because it will keep us ahead of them in the standings and close to Dumas for the 4th place spot in district,” Kashwer said.
Pampa is not out of the playoff picture yet, and the game against Borger is just the first of a crucial three-game stretch for the playoffs.
“I want the girls to keep competing and playing hard like they have all season. Anything can happen, and anyone is beatable on any given night. Believing they can make the playoffs and not being scared to compete to win will be the mindset as we finish district play,” Kashwer said.
