Floyd Lott, 89, of Lefors, passed away on January 3, 2023, at home with the people he loved.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Jon Watson, Pastor and Friend, of Amarillo, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Floyd was born on October 7, 1933 in Portales, New Mexico. After school he met and married the love of his life, Donna Shiffer on December 29, 1954. They shared 57 wonderful years before she preceded him in death in 2012. Floyd spent most of his younger days working show cattle, a career that spanned several years and various states that included Wyoming, New Mexico, Kanas, and Texas. After his tenure with show cattle, Floyd turned his attention to education when he took a position at TSTI teaching diesel mechanics. This was a profession that brought Floyd a lot of pride because he valued the opportunity to teach and mentor young people.

Another important part of Floyd’s life was being part of the brother and sisterhood of First Responders. He worked as volunteer fire fighter for several years, and Floyd served several different counties, towns, and fire departments that included Hoover, Miami, Channing, Dalhart, McLean, Wheeler, and Lefors. He also was an active member and President of the Lefors Senior Citizens

Floyd was a passionate man who strived to help those in need and his daily mission was to make someone feel better about themselves whether he made them smile or laugh. He will be forever missed by his loved ones and his First Responder family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and by an infant son.

Floyd is survived by his son, Roy Lott and wife Carrie of Lefors; a granddaughter, Khori Barnett and husband Elijah of Pampa; two grandsons, Keenan Lott and wife Caitlyn of Palestine, and Kyndan Lott and fianceé Jessica Davis of Pampa; three great-grandchildren, Brynlee Lott, Cole Barnett, and Braelynn Barnett, all of Pampa; special friend, Dana Davis and family; long-time friend, Joe Milligan; and by all of his First Responder family.
