Every Friday evening in the fall you will see a player wearing #32. This number is special in Pampa High School Football history as it is the jersey number worn by Pro Football Hall of Fame member, Zach Thomas. As a tribute to Zach, the Pampa High School football program will be retiring #32 from the jersey circulation. From this day forward, jersey #32 will be worn every Friday night by a different individual. That individual embodies that competitive spirit which Zach Thomas displayed every Friday night in the fall. The individual will be voted on by the coaching staff.
The eighth individual to be selected by his coaching staff for this 2025 season to have the honor of wearing #32 will be Jarren Hill, Senior Quarterback. He normally bears #2 but for Senior Night against Canyon on Friday he will be wearing the Zach Thomas #32.
How does it feel for Hill to be the next one selected?
“I am very honored and appreciative that my coaches have selected me to wear #32. It shows me they respect what I bring to the team and have awarded me to be able to represent the Zach Thomas legacy this game,” Hill said. “Wearing the #32 inspires me to carry on that legacy and play with pride and responsibility. This shows me I have earned the chance to represent this number through hard work and dedication.”
Hill can also be found on the baseball diamond playing outfield for the Harvesters. He plans to attend Texas Tech University but does not plan to play any sports in college.
Outside of football, he enjoys working out, spending time with friends and family, and going to the lake.
His favorite subject is math since “I succeed the best in there and always have,” Hill said.
At Texas Tech, he plans to major in business and see where his opportunities lead him in his future.
“I would just like to show some appreciation to my coaches and family for always believing in me and pushing me to my limits. I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish anything without y’all. Thank you,” Hill said.
Here is what Pampa’s Reid Miller, who is his position coach, had to say about Jarren:
“As a leader, Jarren is tough as they come not just physically but mentally. He lays it all out there week in and week out. He is not afraid to get after his guys but is also quick to celebrate them and love them up. As a quarterback, Jarren is a coach’s dream when you talk about the ultimate competitor. Willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done regardless of how hard the job is, maybe to a fault. Off the field is what I am the proudest of. Being his coach since he was a 7th grader, I’ve gotten to see his growth in this aspect, and it has been one of the coolest things I’ve been able to watch. Jarren is going to be very successful in whatever he chooses to do because of who he is as a person.”
