July 10, 1941- April 19, 2025
Gary was promoted from this life to eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of April 19, 2025. He was born on July 10, 1941, in Shamrock, Texas, to Cecil Wayne Dalton and Ruby (Shelton) Dalton. After his family relocated to Pampa, Texas, he graduated from high school and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University. In 1962, Gary married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, LaVonna Andrus, and this year they celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Gary was a driven and accomplished businessman with a long and successful career, from a high performing salesman to owning multiple businesses including a boat business in Leesburg, Florida, Houston Lumber Company in Pampa TX, development of Chaumont and building of custom homes, also in Pampa, TX. He lastly served as the COO of All Seasons Pool and Spas in Alexandria, LA until his retirement in 2010.
Gary was an extraordinary man—a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved God and was devoted to his family, always remaining a true gentleman. His marriage to LaVonna was a testament to his love and devotion, which he demonstrated through his actions and words every day.
Gary is survived by his wife, LaVonna Dalton; his two sons, Derik Dalton of Houston, Texas, and Monte Dalton and his wife Shellie of Clearwater, Florida; his four grandchildren: Taylor Dalton, Drake Dalton (and wife Barbie), Langlie Rica (and husband Joseph), and Tori Dalton; two great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; his brother, Greg Dalton (and wife Becky); and his sister, Dana Dalton of Amarillo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father Cecil and mother Ruby.
Gary’s radiant smile and infectious laughter will be dearly missed, especially on the golf course. He had a heart as big as Texas. In his memory, let us remember his words: “Slow down, take time to smell the roses, and love each other!”.
A Celebration of Life event will be held in Clearwater, Florida at a later date. Gary was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charitable ministries of his church.
