The Pampa Hustlin’ Harvesters (7-5, 18-13) hosted the Dumas Demons on Tuesday evening in what went on to be a wild, double-overtime thriller that saw the Harvesters edge their District 4-4A opponent 64-62 to pick up the District win.
“It was definitely one of the craziest games I have ever been a part of,” Head Coach Braydon Barker said. “I thought our kids showed a lot of resiliency several times during the game when they could have given up. Dalton Booth hit a big three in the second overtime to give us the lead. That was a huge shot when we were down late.”
Senior Bryce Lynn and Junior Dalton Booth each led the team in scoring with 16 points. Booth also had two threes, eight rebounds, six assists, five deflections and three steals while going 8-10 in free throws; Lynn also had three rebounds, two assists, seven deflections, and three steals while going 2-3 in free throws; Junior Jose Alonzo had 11 points with six rebounds, one deflection and five steals while going 3-7 from the stripe; Senior Isaiah Fernandez had seven points with one rebound, one assist, one deflection and one steal; Senior Julian Alonzo had six points, one three, five rebounds, five deflections and two steals; Junior Tristan Bagwell had three points, two rebounds, one assist, and one block; Junior Kyler Peet had three points while going 1-2 in free throws; Junior Conner Hall had two points; and Junior K’Trillion Young had one rebound, one assist, three deflections, and one steal.
The Harvesters still sit in the No. 3 spot of District 4-4A with a date against Canyon coming up on Friday.
“Although we are sitting third right now, we still need to win one more game to secure a playoff spot,” Barker said. “It is nice knowing we control our own destiny to get back in the playoffs.”
We will have the recap of Friday’s game in an edition next week of The Pampa News.
“We had an awful third quarter the first time we played Canyon,” Barker said. “We have to limit our turnovers and rebound the ball a little better than we did the first time we played them.”
