A Pampa woman was killed in a head-on collision on State Highway 152 west of Pampa.
At around 6:25 p.m. on Monday, a 2021 GMC Sierra, driven by Michael Lugar, 63, Orange Park, Fla. was driving west on Highway 152 west of Pampa while a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Kristen Knoop, 28, Pampa, was driving east.
For an unknown reason, the Trailblazer crossed over the center stripe into the westbound lane into the path of the GMC Sierra.
Lugar was unable to avoid the collision and crashed head-on with the Trailblazer.
The Sierra came to rest on its wheels in a field northwest of the roadway. The Trailblazer came to rest on its top in the westbound lane.
Knoop died on scene. She was pronounced deceased by Gray County Justice of the Peace, Karen Goodman. Texas DPS reports she was not wearing her seatbelt.
Lugar was transported to Pampa Regional Medical Plaza with non-incapacitating injuries, where he is in stable condition. Lugar was wearing his seatbelt.
