The Pampa Hustlin Harvesters (13-8, 2-0) took part in the Gruver Tournament over the weekend where they finished third.
The Harvesters had wins over Stratford 51-46, Follett 61-30 and Texline 68-67. The Harvesters lone loss came against Dalhart 40-24.
“Texline is ranked No. 3 in the state,” Head Coach Braydon Barker said. “We beat them at the buzzer in the third-place game. That was a great win for us.”
The Harvesters said the tournament was a great opportunity for the squad to avoid any rust with the Christmas break in District play.
“We really use this tournament to get our legs back after the Christmas Break,” Barker said. “We played four games in two days, so that was good to knock the rust off coming out of the break.”
Junior Dalton Booth continued to be a key contributor to the Harvesters, averaging 18 points a game.
The Harvesters return to action this Friday when they travel to Perryton to take on the Rangers.
“Perryton is 0-2 in District but they have played Canyon and West Plains both tough,” Barker said. “It is always tough to win at Perryton, so we will have to play with composure and intensity to win on the road. Perryton plays extremely hard, so I am expecting a very tough game.”
