Introducing Lefors High School Athletic Director, Cameron Armstrong

Continuing the legacy that Coach Joe Riley had established, Cameron Armstrong took the helm as the Athletic Director for Lefors High School.

Armstrong began his coaching career as an assistant coach for Lefors in 2012. After two years, he went on to coach for Bushland ISD for two years and Borger ISD for four years. Armstrong reflects on the time he spent coaching throughout the years.

“It was a good time. I enjoyed coaching for each of the schools,” Armstrong said.

Eventually, the position of athletic director became available and Armstrong returned to Lefors.

“I had worked with Joe previously,” Armstrong said. “He was going to retire and the position was available. That’s how I came back here.”

As athletic director, Armstrong coaches the multiple sports provided by Lefors High School. Armstrong is the head coach for football, boys’ basketball, golf, and track. As the football season has been in full swing, Armstrong describes the progress he and the Lefors Pirates have made.

“We saw some things we have been working on,” Armstrong said. “In a past game against Wildorado, we had a lot of turnovers. They happen early in games and we hope to eliminate them for the next one. It set us back but it’s something we can learn
from.”

As for the rest of the school year, Armstrong intends to make great strides to solidify his legacy for Lefors High School.
