James “Jim” Shook, 79, of Pampa, passed away December 17, 2022, in Pampa.
Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Pampa with Pastor Zack Greer, an associate pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Jim will be available for viewing at 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jim was born on November 21, 1943, in Coalton, Ohio to Carl and Anna Shook. He grew up in Garfield Holler, OH. After school, he enlisted in the U.S. Amy, serving four years and was honorably discharged in 1966. During his military service, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Rawlins on August 4, 1963. With this union they had 5 wonderful children and 59 amazing years together.
In 1988, Jim and his family moved to Pampa to be part of the rebuilding project at Celanese, a decision that would make them long-time Pampa residents. Jim was a talented man who worked as an electrician and commercial truck driver for many years. Jim was family man first who continued to travel to Ohio to see his family there and he loved spending time with his local family, always doting on all of his grandchildren. Jim will be remembered as a generous and giving man who put many others before himself. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Fred Shook, Carl Shook, Tom Shook, and Gene Shook; a sister, Marilyn Drake; a granddaughter, Sarah Shook; and three great-grandchildren, Kendall Homer, Curtis Wine, and Caroline Villapando.
He was survived by his wife, Carolyn Shook of the home; five children, Jim Shook, Jr. and wife Chel of Amarillo, Tammy Carroll and husband John, Teresa Peters and husband Derek, all of Pampa, David Shook and wife Verona of Norwood, MO, and Buddy Shook and wife Angie of Pampa; 24 grandchildren, Jamie Shook, Daryl Roach and wife Chasity, Marke Shook and wife Amy, Bentley Shook, Tyler Smith and Tori, Taylor Smith and Clarisa, Kaylan Smith, Jessica Plunk and wife Misti, Christy Ladd and husband Cody, Ricky Clarr and wife Veronica, Brodie Peters and wife Sara, Zach Peters and Brooke, Katelyn Montano and husband Tim, Shay Shook and Nick, David Shook, Jr., and husband Jon, Dakota Shook, Kylie Shook and JJ, Bryce Shook, Colton Shook, Austin Odell and Alec, Kallea Villalpando and husband Saul, Charlee Shook, Zoe Shook, and Cienna Shook; 23 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lillian Shook of Jackson, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
