Lady Harvesters Crush Canyon Friday

The Pampa Lady Harvesters remained in first place with a decisive win over Canyon Friday afternoon at Lady Harvester Field by a score of 15-6.  Pampa improves its record to 5-1.

After Canyon scored four runs in the top of the first, Pampa would answer with four of their own.  Carsyn Hunt doubled to lead off the inning for Pampa and would advance to third on a ground out.  Kynleigh Kirby then singled scoring Hunt from third base. Ella Hudson came in to courtesy run for Kirby.  Briley Daniels doubled to center field putting runners at second and third.  Cambree Dyer then singled scoring Hudson.  Daniels then alertly would tag up and score on a foul ball to the catcher. With two outs, Cassidy Stanhope singled scoring Dyer. At the end of the first inning, the score was tied at four.

Pampa would take the lead for good in the second, when Ytzel Zamudio doubled, and scored on a single by Hunt. Hunt would advance to second on the throw and eventually stole third base.  With two outs, Briley Daniels would double, scoring Hunt. 

Pampa would add a run in the third inning.  With Stanhope at third and two outs, Hunt would deliver her third hit of the game to left field scoring Stanhope.

In the fourth, and leading 7-4, Pampa would add three more runs. McKinley Daniels and Kirby singled.  WIth two outs and a runner at first, Dyer singled putting runners at first and second. Karina Gonzalez would then single scoring Hudson from second base.   Dyer would advance to third and Gonzalez to second. Stanhope then singled home Dyer and Michelle Gallegos would single home Stanhope, making the lead 10-4.

Canyon would score two in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 10-6, but Pampa would another run in the bottom of the fifth. Hunt led off with a walk.  With two outs and Hunt at second Briley Daniels would single up the middle to score Hunt from second.  At the end of five, it was 11-6 Pampa. 

Pampa would ice the game in the sixth with four more runs. Gonzalez led off with a single and Stanhope sacrificed her to second.  With one out, Gallegos singled scoring Gonzalez from second.  Ytzel Zamudio then hit 0-1 pitch over the left field fence for a two-run home run, giving Pampa a 14-6 lead.  Hunt would then drive an 0-1 pitch over the right field fence for a solo home run, making the score 15-6.

Pampa would hold in the top of the seventh and record a 15-6 victory.

Game Stats:

Kynleigh Kirby went the distance for Pampa in the circle, going seven innings and giving up six runs (only three of those earned) on seven hits, while striking out six and walking four.

Pampa cranked out 23 hits.  Hunt led the team going 4-4 with a walk, four runs scored and 3 RBI’s.  Briley Daniels was 3-5 with two doubles, Cassidy Stanhope was 3-3 with a double and two singles and 3 RBI’s, Karina Gonzalez was 3-4 with 2 RBI’s, McKinley Daniels, Kirby, Dyer, Gallegos and Zamudio all chipped in with two hits each. 

Other District Action:

In other district 4-4A action, Randall beat Herford 22-0, Dumas beat Borger 16-0 and West Plains stomped Perryton 18-0.  The standings thorough week six look like this:

• Pampa 5-1

• Dumas 4-2

• West Plains 4-2

• Hereford 3-3

• Randall 3-3

• Canyon 3-3

• Borger 2-4

• Perryton 0-6

Pampa will face off next week against Dumas on Tuesday and West Plains on Thursday.  Both games are on the road.
