CANYON - The Pampa Lady Harvesters(8-13, 3-5) fell to the Canyon Lady Eagles 57-22 on Tuesday evening in Canyon.
“Canyon is one of the best teams in the state,” Head Coach Clint Watson said.
“They will go compete for a state championship. They are deep and well-experienced. They move the ball well and shoot it well also.”
Senior Berlin Bartlett led the team in scoring with 13 points and went 7-9 in free throws; freshman Emmy Boutsamaly had seven points with one three and senior Cambree Dyer had two points.
While she doesn’t often appear on the stat sheet, Watson said Sophomore Payton Gowin brings invaluable intangibles to the team.
“Payton is a great kiddo,” Watson said. “Before she got hurt, she was full of energy. She has been playing out of position (she plays a post/forward position.). Even now, she is full of energy. She has a great attitude. I can hear her talking from the bench. She always has a great attitude and is willing to do what is needed in order to help the team.”
The Lady Harvesters returned to action on Friday when they hosted West Plains at McNeely Fieldhouse.
“I expect them to be in full defensive pressure,” Watson said. “They will pick and choose when to run the court and when to set up half court offense. They are going to be physical.”
