The Pampa Lady Harvesters (7-12, 2-4) fell to the Randall Lady Raiders in a 69-58 loss on Tuesday evening.
“Losing is never fun,” Head Coach Clint Watson said. “We all take it hard, especially when you play that hard and have as close of a game as that was. Randall is a good team. They are well-coached and have good athletes. All the Canyon schools are tough, but we don’t back down from them. Our mentality is we will respect everyone but fear no one.”
Senior Cambree Dyer led the team in scoring with 19 points off three three-pointers and went 1-1 in free throws; Senior Berlin Bartlett had 12 points and went 6-8 in free throws; Freshman Emmy Boutsamaly had 12 points with two threes and went 2-2 in free throws; Freshman Brooklyn Warren had seven points with one three; Senior Briley Daniels had six points; Freshman Karsyn Brown had two points.
The Lady Harvesters had a total of nine three-pointers in the game.
“We aren’t blessed with size, so we have to use the outside shot and team speed to our advantage,” Watson said. “We can’t throw the ball inside to a tall post player every possession. But we do have plenty of girls that are more than capable of knocking the three-ball down.
“We did a great job of moving the ball well and finding the open person. When we hit threes, I feel like it’s a huge momentum boost for us. It’s always great to see the ball go through the net, but it also hypes up the team and the crowd.”
The Lady Harvesters returned to action on Friday when they traveled to Dumas. That game might have been moved due to weather.
“Playing at Dumas is always tough,” Watson said. “They play a tough 2-3 zone defensively. We are going to have to move the ball quickly against them just like we did against Randall. We are going to have to continue our hot shooting as well.”
“We’ve been working on quick ball rotations and shooting a lot of outside shots. We are going to try and press and play as quickly as possible.”
