The Pampa Lady Harvesters traveled to West Plains High School Saturday for a softball doubleheader against Caprock and Bushland. Pampa defeated Caprock 7-2 and then staged a last inning rally to defeat Bushland 10-7. With the wins, Pampa improves their record to 8-1.
In the first game of day facing off against the Caprock Lady Longhorns, Pampa would use a big inning in the third to win 7-2. Pampa scored two runs in the second inning and five runs in the top of the third for the win.
Cassidy Stanhope and Briley Daniels each added two hits for Pampa. Briley recorded her first home run of the season, a two-run blast in the second inning. Maecie Hawthrone also added a home run for the Lady Harvesters. McKinley Daniels and Cambree Dyer each added a hit for Pampa as well.
Hallie Reynolds picked up the win in the circle by going 2 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on two hits, walking three and striking out none. Maecie Hawthorne would come in to record the final out after Hallie had to leave the game after getting hit with a line drive in the chest.
Game two would be a much closer game. Pampa would score one in the first, two in the second, one in the third and six in the fifth to come from behind to beat the Bushland Lady Falcons.
Every player in the lineup had at least one hit, with McKinley Daniels and Kassie Arnzen recording two hits each. Carsyn Hunt, Maecie Hawthorne, Briley Daniels, Cassidy Stanhope, Cambree Dyer, Michelle Gallegos, and Ella Hudson each recorded one hit.
Going into the bottom of the last inning, Pampa found themselves down 7-4. McKinley Daniels led off the inning with a single and would take second on a wild pitch. Maecie Hawthrone then singled to right field scoring McKinley. Maecie would take third when the ball got away from the right fielder. Briley Daniels then scored Maecie on a ground ball to short. The Bushland shortstop tried to get Maecie at home, but the throw was late, and she slid under the tag.
With one out, Kassie Arnzen doubled to center field, scoring Briley from first to tie the game. With two outs, Michelle Gallegos drew a walk to put runners at first and second. Ella Hudson then lined a 1-2 pitch to center field, and the ball got under the glove of the center fielder, and Ella circled the bases for a walk off, inside the park, home run.
Maecie Hawthorne pitched three innings, and Michelle Gallegos pitched the final two innings. Pampa out-hit Bushland 10-8.
Pampa will travel to Bushland on Tuesday for the final non-district tune-up.
