The Pampa Lady Harvesters season came to an end on Wednesday evening against Brock at Snyder.
The game came after a tumultuous, weather-related “will they, won’t they” postponement, but come tip-off, Brock was the better team ending the Lady Harvesters’ historic season with the 60-24 win over Pampa.
“Brock is a tradition-rich program,” Head Coach Clint Watson said. “They are long and athletic. They pushed us further away from the basket than we would like to be. They had an athletic six-foot guard at the top of their 1-3-1 defense. We got open looks, but their length bothered us on some of the shots.
Seniors Briley Daniels and Berlin Bartlett led the team in scoring with eight points; Daniels also went 1-3 in free throws; Freshman Emmy Boutsamaly had six points with a three and went 1-2 in free throws; and Senior Cambree Dyer had six points.
This was the last time Watson will have seniors Cambree Dyer, Briley Daniels, Berlin Bartlett and Preslie Segura on the court.
“I cant say enough about this group of seniors,” Watson said. “They accepted every challenge I placed before them.
“They played a lot of games wearing the Lady Harvester uniform. They will definitely be missed going forward. They set the tone and the attitude going forward.
Watson added the historic run from the last month will be something he remembers forever.
“This run that we were on the past month was pretty special,” Watson said.
“Being on the brink of elimination on Jan. 24 to making it to the regional semifinals it a testament to all 12 of the Lady Harvesters.
“This is a season that I will never forget. To be able to be a part of a group that made it three rounds deep and make school history is amazing.”
The Lady Harvesters will reminisce about this season one more time at the Girls basketball banquet, after that, it’s time to reload. A benefit of the playoffs? Extra practice time for the returners.
“This playoff run definitely helped with the girls that will be returning,” Watson said. “The underclassmen played a vital part in the postseason run.
“We will be young, we will be all juniors and sophomores. Kenna will be a junior and it will be her third year on varsity. I think she will have a breakout season. There will also be around six or seven sophomores ( including Madison Barton, Emmy Boutsamaly, Brooklyn Warren, Karsyn Brown) that will play major roles.
“These girls will be hungry and looking forward to carrying on the success that has been established the last couple of years.”
