Lady Harvesters Look to Rebound After Hard-Fought Match at Canyon

The Pampa Lady Harvesters (17-11, 3-5) fell to the Canyon Eagles (16-14, 6-2) at Canyon on Saturday to begin the second round of District play.

After dropping the first set 25-13, the Lady Harvesters fought hard in both of the other sets but came up on the short end 25-20 and 27-25 to lose the match 3-0.

“Some take-aways from Canyon that I believe will help us against West Plains is we need to not just compete but compete to win and limit the errors we make throughout the match,” Head Coach Abbey Kashwer said.

The Lady Harvesters have fought hard in the tough district slate, losing some close matchups, with the highlight being the reverse sweep of Hereford and a three-game win streak.

“This team plays hard and competes, so if they believe they deserve to be talked about and make the playoffs then I believe that will swing the momentum,” Kashwer said.

Pampa played host to the West Plains Wolves on future Lady Harvester night on Tuesday. The write up for that game will come later this week. They also head to Borger on the road Saturday.

“Both matches are big because winning will help our chances to make the playoffs,” Kashwer said.

Junior Haili Newton has been a vital cog in the machine for the Lady Harvesters this season.

“Haili was competing to win against Canyon on Saturday. She was playing aggressively and is one of the most coachable kids in the program. She is all about Lady Harvester Volleyball,” Kashwer said.
