Levi Villegas fought this past weekend in Odessa, making his debut in the boxing ring. He stepped in against a fighter who already had one fight under his belt, but Levi showed a lot of heart in every round.
“As a coach, I’m always proud to see my fighters go out there and give it their all,” said Cris Larrazolo. “Boxing isn’t always easy, especially when you’re facing a tough opponent, but Levi kept pressing forward and never backed down. Seeing a young fighter push through tough rounds and leave everything in the ring says a lot about their character. That kind of effort and determination is something to be proud of, and it’s a great sign of the kind of fighter Levi is becoming.”
“I would also like to give a big thank you to Levi’s dad, Aaron Villegas, for the support he gives our club. Through his work through Phillips 66, he’s helped secure funding that supports the program and helps us continue providing opportunities for these young fighters. We truly appreciate the time, effort, and support he continues to give the kids and our boxing family.”
Fighter Toval Larrazolo also competed that night and boxed three slick rounds against a hometown opponent. The decision didn’t go his way, but it was a very competitive fight that could have gone either way. Even some of the judges came up to their team afterward and mentioned they thought Toval had done enough to win. Regardless, he showed great skill, composure and heart, and represented the club well in the ring.
The Pampa Texas Boxing Club is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status, and support from businesses and the community members help keep the program going for those young athletes. If any businesses or individuals would like to reach out and support the club, Cris and his crew would greatly appreciate it.
“Your support helps us continue mentoring the youth, building discipline, and giving these fighters a positive place to grow.”
