Light of the World

Posted

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

I know that some are struggling at this time with sickness that has them wondering what the next step is going to be. Some are sick and struggling just to get another breath. Other issues brought on by Covid-19 are causing problems for many people as well as their loved ones.

As I thought about this it made me think that so many just need a little bright light shining in their lives. They need to see that there is something good out there and something that will bring joy into their lives. Then I was reminded -- That is what Christmas is all about!

When the glory of the Lord shone around those shepherds, I am sure they wondered what was going on. Then the angel that appeared shared with them the news that a Savior had been born who is Christ the Lord. The light that shone around them must have been breathtaking.

Of course we know that there was a star that shone so brightly that it eventually brought the three wisemen to where Jesus was living with his parents. It was a star that shone so brightly that they were able to follow it to where He was (Matt. 2:2).

In recent nights I have been watching the alignment of Saturn and Jupiter that is to take place on Monday night. I realize that it isn’t that star the wisemen followed, but it is supposed to shine brightly in the southwest sky. As it comes near this year close to Christmas it brings some light in the midst of all the dark struggles that are going on.

I’ve read all about it. What the astronomers are saying of the alignment and how it brings the great light with it. It hasn’t been like this since the middle ages, but I can tell you that for me it is definitely a bright spot in the midst of all the darkness surrounding us at this time.

Jesus said in John 8:12 – “I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Truly what we need in this time is for His light to shine in the darkness that seemingly overwhelms us.

Satan is doing all he can so we won’t see ‘the light of the world’. Yet, we must understand that God is still showing Himself to mankind and seeking to bring a greater understanding as to who He is and what He is doing. He wants us to see Him as the ‘light of the world’.

The alignment is to take place in the southwest sky and will be fairly low in the sky. If you are surrounded by trees it will be difficult to see. I am going to do my best to be where I can clearly see it. I am so excited to see this alignment of Saturn and Jupiter shining in the sky.

Now more than ever we need to see ‘the light of the world’! We need to let Jesus shine in and through us so all the world will see Him and His glory. Maybe this alignment is another reminder to us of who Christ is and what He desires for us to be.

As you go through the coming days, let ‘the light of the world’ be what you let shine through your life. Let the light shine in your life so others will see Jesus in you.

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
