Mark Allan McMinn, 61, of Amarillo (previously of Pampa), was welcomed by his dad and brother in heaven on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jon Watson of Caprock Baptist Church of Amarillo, and Pastor Rick Timmons of Central Baptist Church of Canadian, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory of Pampa.

Mark will be available for viewing from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday and 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home, 600 N. Ward, Pampa, Texas.

Mark was born on July 15, 1961 to Imogene (Conway) and Floyd W. McMinn in Childress, Texas. He grew up in Lefors and Pampa. He was one of five students who graduated in May 1983 with the Senior Developmental Class at Pampa High School.

Mark was an amazing Special Olympian. He competed with the Pampa Special Olympics in bowling, basketball, golf, track and field earning numerous gold and silver medals. He earned a silver medal in softball throw at the International Summer Special Olympics Games held at Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge in 1983. He earned a gold medal in the Texas Special Olympics Bowling Tournament in November 1986. He was named Best Individual Skills Golfer in 2004.

He loved all sports, especially the Pampa Harvesters, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Texas Longhorns and his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

Mark attended the Pampa Sheltered Workshop until his move to Amarillo in June 2020. He returned to his ADVO group home or “college” as he told everyone. He loved going to work at the ADVO Workshop.

Mark loved lunch dates with his cousins, nieces and nephews. He always wanted Red Lobster, Whataburger or Texas Roadhouse. He loved playing his guitar, singing along to George Strait, loved coloring “doing schoolwork” and reading his Bible. He attended First Baptist Church in Pampa. He loved attending Panfork Baptist Camp in Wellington. Mark worked many jobs in Pampa. He loved working at McDonalds, B&G Electric, Culligan and United Supermarket.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd on Oct. 9, 2007; “big brother”, Billy Dean on Aug. 26, 2020; and cousin/brother, Jerry Conway on Dec. 30, 2012.

He is survived by his mother, Imogene of Amarillo; his sister-in-law, Wilma McMinn of Fritch; his nephews, Chris McMinn and wife Connie of Balko, Oklahoma and Clint McMinn and wife Traci of Fritch; He was the best great-uncle to Samantha and husband Ralph Gonzalez of Perryton, Coty McMinn of Oklahoma City,OK, Tyler McMinn and wife Kaylee of Mustang, OK, Kyle McMinn and wife Michelle of Mustang, OK, Ryan McMinn of Beaver, OK, Travis Williams of Dallas, Seth McMinn and fiancé Lillie McNeill of Lubbock, Cheyenne and husband Tyler Moon of Guymon, OK, Sean McMinn and girlfriend Halle Lytal of Amarillo, Sara and husband Carson Spitler of Amarillo; and great-great uncle to Kayce and Sloan Gonzalez of Perryton, Charlie and Maximus McMinn of Mustang, OK, Aaron McLean of Mustang, OK, Nicholas, Karsten and Zowie Williams and Cason Spitler of Amarillo; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to thank Carla Hughes, Kelsey Baylis and their ADVO staff for the love and care shown to Mark during the past few years.
