Mary was born on December 7, 1934, in Lubbock to Grady and Clarice Mae Scarbrough. She grew up and later graduated school in Idalou.

While in high school, she met the love of her life, Billy Eugene Roye and the high school sweethearts later married in 1955 in Muleshoe. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Rhode Island when Bill was in the U.S. Navy.

After his service, they moved back to Texas. Mary and Bill lived in the Muleshoe, Kress, and Plainview area before they moved to Pampa in 1968.

In her spare time, Mary enjoyed gardening and sewing. But what brought her the most enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Seeing all her grandchildren grow, get married, and start their families made her very proud.
