Michael Charles Moore, 68, of Pampa, Texas, took his final ride off into the sunset on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
Born on March 12, 1957, to Wiley and Jean Moore in Sweetwater, Texas, he made their family complete. Mike was raised on the Brooks Ranch and quickly learned about the life of a cowboy, riding and breaking horses. His childhood was filled with rodeos, playdays, and trail rides which helped to cultivate his love of animals, particularly horses and dogs. He enjoyed reading a good book and often talked about the excitement of finding a new book as a child. Mike loved watching Westerns with his childhood hero being the Lone Ranger.
Mike graduated in 1975 from Divide High School in Nolan, Texas. After high school, he continued his education at TSTC in Sweetwater, Texas graduating with a welding certification in 1976. He advanced his career while working for Ingersoll Rand International in Pampa, Lubbock, and Garland. When his dad’s health declined, Mike moved to Nolan to help care for his father. While living in Nolan, he worked at Sweetwater Machine & Welding as a shop foreman. Later, he moved to Gardendale, Texas and worked at Gorilla Inspections in Odessa as a welding inspector. He purchased property and made Gardendale his home until 2019 when he moved to Pampa to be with his family.
Mike’s passions included hunting, shooting, riding, tinkering, welding, and creating projects from scratch. He had a deep appreciation for vintage cars and trucks and motorcycles, collecting horse tack and saddles. Despite his independence and occasional stubbornness, Mike was known for his quick wit, storytelling, fun-loving and jolly nature. Family was his top priority, and he cherished the time spent with them especially his grandson, Jackson.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Seward Moore, Jean Crain Guthrie, and stepfather, Jimmie Guthrie.
He leaves behind his son, Michael Moore and wife Kimberlea Moore; grandson Jackson Moore, all of Pampa; sister, Patricia Michaels of Winnsboro, Texas; niece, Mindy Reynolds Griffin and husband Mark of Winnsboro, Texas; great-niece, Kiley Odenkirk and husband Robert of Poolville, Texas, great-great nieces, Ollie Jean Odenkirk and Noah Odenkirk of Poolville, Texas; aunt, Janice Crain Hollway of San Angelo, Texas; uncles, Kenneth Crain of Maryneal, Texas, and Richard “Horsefly” Crain of Blackwell, Texas; cousins Marty and Tammy White of Gardendale, Texas, Debbie Fontenot of San Angelo, Texas, along with numerous other cousins and extended family who will miss him dearly.
