Michael Lamond Ryan, affectionately known as Big Mac, 51 years of age, of Pampa, Texas, gracefully and peacefully made his transition from his earthly vessel to a brand new glorious eternal body on Friday, October 17, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family and friends at his home.

He was born on July 29, 1974, in Shamrock, Texas to Esnola Ryan. His life was characterized by kindness, faith, service, and a deep love for his family. Big Mac will be fondly remembered for his radiant smile and distinctive laugh.

Following his graduation from Shamrock High School, Big Mac attended Clarendon College where he attained his associates degree then continued to earn his Bachelor of Emergency Management and Public Safety from the Grand Canyon university. He dedicated himself to his career first through the Pampa Police Department, then as the Gray County Fire Marshall for five years, followed by a Texas Fire Marshall for two years then as the Gray County Sheriff for the past nine years.

In 2001, Big Mac married Dora Mauricio and together they embarked on a journey filled with love, family, and adventures. Big Mac, being an avid sports player himself in his high school years, enjoyed sharing time with his boys by coaching them in Little League Football and attending their activities as they grew up. Even in his more recent years, Big Mac loved playing softball with his best position on the field being pitcher, he found cornhole through the Moose Lodge and became involved in the tournaments, and even though he wasn’t on the field, he was the biggest and most committed fan the community kids had. He traveled all over to not only cheer on and watch but to genuinely support the school functions and various teams. The position suited him well, because after all – he was just a big kid at heart, a gentle giant always giving selflessly of himself to others.

Big Mac was extremely social, loved people, and throwing cookouts together, but he never cooked! None were more dedicated to the Salvation Bell Ringing at Christmas; he loved doing it and volunteered every year – several times a year.

He was selfless in that he always put other needs before his own and not only did it touch many people, but he left a large impact on countless lives throughout his 51 years.

He found happiness in dedicating himself to his career, community service, faith, and above all family, leaving behind a legacy filled with impact, generosity, love, and friendship. He treasured moments shared with family, friends, and community members, particularly young children.

He was joyously reunited with his daughter, Emily Mauricio and his grandparents, James and Mamie Walker.

Big Mac is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dora Ryan of Pampa; his sons, Marcus Ryan, Anthony Ryan and Corderro Mauricio all of Pampa; his mother, Esnola Ryan of Shamrock; a sister, Krissy Sturdivant and husband Davis of Slaton, TX; brothers, Kenneth Ryan of Pampa. Bobby Ryan and wife Sarah of Weatherford, OK, Wray Ryan and wife Dawn of Lefors, Keith Smith of Tucson, AZ, and Emmanual Marquez of Amarillo along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
