A Dumas man is dead and two others were injured after a head-on collision in Moore County Monday afternoon.
At about 4:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon, Tomas Lopez, 22, Cactus, was driving a 2012 Kia Sorento east on Farm-to-Market 281 while a 2018 Toyota CHR-SUV, driven by Elva Duran-Valdez, 41, Dumas, was driving west.
Lopez moved into the westbound lane to pass another vehicle and collided with the 2018 Toyota. Duran-Valdez’ passenger, Arturo Duran-Ortiz, 42, of Dumas, was pronounced deceased by Moore County Justice of the Peace, Barbara Mulanax. Duran-Valdez and Lopez were both transported to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with serious injuries
The crash remains under investigation by Texas Highway Patrol. Information may change, be corrected, or added based on the investigator’s findings
