The Harvester swim team competed on Thursday, October 1st at the Lubbock Mini-Invitational.
For the girl’s team, our top swimmer was junior Madilyn Paul. She managed to place 2nd in the 50-yard freestyle and 4th in the 100-yard butterfly. Sophomore Zayannah Baker took 2nd place in the 100-yard freestyle and a 5th place in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Other notable performances include senior Emery Lowenstein picking up 4th in the 200-yard freestyle and 5th in the 100-yard backstroke. Senior Aria Taylor with 4th in the 100-yard individual medley.
The girls relays positioned well. The girls 200-yard Medley A relay placed 4th made with Lowenstein, Baker, Paul, and junior Areli Hurtado Silva. They were followed closely by the Pampa B relay in 5th made with sophomore Kimberly Sims, Taylor, senior Faith Robles, and Karaline Baker.
The girls 200-yard freestyle relays placed 3rd and 5th. The 3rd place relay was made with Emery Lowenstein, Zayannah Baker, Aria Taylor, and Madilyn Paul. And the 5th place relay was made with freshman Karaline Baker, freshman Debra Sims, Robles, and sophomore Kimberly Sims.
With their individual performances and relays the girls managed to place 3rd out of 7 teams.
On the boys side, sophomore Emmett Flood had our top position placing 2nd in the 100-yard butterfly setting a new personal best time. He also set a new personal best time in the 50-yard freestyle placing 7th.
Our other top 8 performances on the boys side belong to sophomore Orion Taylor with 7th in the 200-yard freestyle and 4th in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The boy’s relays placed 4th and 6th. The 200-yard Medley Relay placed 4th, with Taylor, sophomore Juaquin Chavez Badillo, Flood, and freshman Sirus Ellis. The 200-yard freestyle relay placed 6th with Flood, freshman Joshua James Carson, Chavez Badillo, and Taylor.
The boys points earned them 3rd place out of the 8 boys teams present.
“Overall, our teams started out the season well. The new Harvester swimmers were able to get much needed experience and contribute to the team performance while the seasoned swimmers picked up on their bests from previous years,” Head Coach Jeremiah Day said.
“I’m proud of our start and want to keep building on their performance,” Day said.
The Harvesters will return to competition at the Amarillo Country Club Invitational on October 17.
