The Pampa Lady Harvesters hosted the Lady Harvester Classic on Friday where they swept the other three teams in the event.
The Lady Harvesters beat West Texas (25-17, 30-29*), Caprock (24-26, 25-17, 25-23) and Borger (25-14, 25-18). *Score was capped at 30 for tournament play.
“It took us a little bit to get into a groove on Friday,” Head Coach Abbey Kashwer said. “But halfway through the Caprock match, and all the Borger match, we were playing hard and playing as a team. This team has figured out that our success on the court comes from playing for each other rather than an individual’s stat line.”
This was the first Lady Harvester Classic on varsity for senior Hope Scribner, who has enjoyed competing for one of the four setting positions.
“Hope Scribner is a new senior to varsity this year,” Kashwer said. “Hope has shown she wants to be on the court and competes every day for one of the setting positions between the four varsity setters.”
The Lady Harvesters return to action on Tuesday when they host Amarillo’s Palo Duro in what will be one of two final tune-ups prior to the start of District when they host Canyon on Sept. 9.
“I am looking for us to better some of the aspects of the game we struggled with this past weekend,” Kashwer said. “We need to be solid offensively and defensively with our line-up as we only have two matches left before district.”
