Party in Pampa

On June 10th, one of Pampa’s busiest days will be in full swing, with the Pampa Partnership happening, and Burnin’ The Bricks 20th annual event.

“Our golf and outdoor concert last year were on one of the windiest days,” Pampa Chamber of Commerce Director, Cortnie Patterson said. “So we moved the date this year, but we wanted to make sure we weren’t competing with anyone. When we realized it would be the same day as Burnin’ the Bricks we wanted to make sure people would still be able to attend both. We want it to bring more people out for both, without taking away anything from anyone.”

On June 10th, starting at 7 am, downtown Cuyler will shut down to allow cars to line up. 8 am will kick of the first round of golf for the Pampa Partnership Golf Tournament, then a 2 pm tee off.

“At 8 am, you’ll either want to be at the country club getting ready to tee off, or downtown getting ready for the car show and vendors,” Patterson said. “The car show will go until three, at three is when the Kooper Preston Memorial Bull Riding event will start.”

The Chamber is hosting the ‘Party in Pampa’, with three bands and a cash bar with vendors. The gates for the chamber event will open at 9, ticket prices are $35. In addition, the concert is a joint effort between the chamber and the Kooper Preston Memorial.

“Kendall Hunt and The Shooters will play until 10, and will finish with a performance of one of Kooper’s favorite songs,” Patterson said. “Mark Patterson will play a song written by Lance Richburg about the baseball team Kooper Preston played with. We want to honor Kooper, he was a dear friend of my sons and we wanted to help his family in any way. We loved him and adored him, his mom reached out to me on how we could help. I just felt like combining it and helping them raise funds and donors was better for them, and we of course, as I’ve said, wanted to help them as much as we can.”

Party in Pampa is the umbrella for all the events happening June 10th. With the day starting off early with Burnin’ The Bricks and the Pampa Partnership Golf Tournament. The afternoon, starting at noon is the burnout competition at recreation park, from three to six is the memorial bull riding event. Then events happening from seven till midnight. Tickets are available through ‘Event Brite’ or partyinpampa.com. There is so much happening this June 10th, but Patterson gave her advice on why it’s a good thing.

“Every year Burnin’ the Bricks brings out so many people, downtown is packed, but when it ends we’re all left with wanting to do more,” Patterson said. “So this year, these events give people a whole days worth of things to do. Events starting out at seven in the morning, and the final event ends at midnight.”

The Pampa Chamber of Commerce is also in the process of preparation for their July 4th celebration, that will be the second annual celebration. One of the biggest events in Pampa, if not the biggest with a crowd of over 6,000 people in attendance.

“We had a great turn out, Dustin Miller and I put out so much promotional stuff to get the word out there,” Patterson said. “So we’re excited for this year, we are keeping a lot of the great things from last year, while adding some new stuff.”

With plans to potentially get a larger stage, to showcase live music that the chamber will have. As well as giving a bigger stage for the pie and hot dog eating contest that’s sponsored by Coney Island.

“It will be an all day event,” Patterson said. “We will have stuff for the whole family, with games and things to do. But we are also open to new things being added. If a vendor or food truck wants to join, we’d love to add them and if there is an organization that wants to set up and host an event we want those as well.”

The event that takes place at recreation park will have food trucks, vendors and events for all members of the family.

“Hunting has come in and boosted the budget for the firework show,” Patterson said. “Their donation has allowed us to get a bigger show and a new pyrotechnic for a more dynamic show.”

Seth Ward and The Silence will be in attendance, with more bands that can’t be named yet. There will be another announcement closer to July’s event with all events and details available then.
