Peggy Lavern Poole, 92, of Pampa, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Ben Corbitt, pastor at Faith Tabernacle UPC, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Peggy was born on March 2, 1930, in Wanette, Oklahoma to Earl Cottingham and Viola Elwood Cottingham. She was raised in Wanetta, Tecumsua, and Maud, Oklahoma. She graduated high school in 1948 in Maud. She met and married William Preston Poole, Jr on June 22, 1947, at the Baptist Church in Maud. In 1948, Preston and Peggy moved to Dumas on a motorcycle with a pot, two suitcases, and a set of sheets. Their first son George William was born in Dumas on December 7, 1949. They later moved to Borger, where they had their second son, Robert Clyde, on January 13, 1951, and their third son, Jimmie Lavern, on February 16, 1955. They moved to Pampa in 1968. Preston passed away on April 30, 2005. Peggy continued to live in the home they built and to take care of her ever-expanding family.

Peggy worked for Mrs. Barber in her drapery business. In 1971, Peggy and Lena Mae Woods decided to go into business for themselves and formed L&P Interiors. After Lena Mae retired, Peggy added an antique shop to her business. Peggy was a very talented interior decorator and an accomplished seamstress. Peggy enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Cottingham and Viola Elwood Cottingham; her older sister, Earlene Starns; her husband, William Preston Poole, Jr.; and two sons, George Poole and Jimmie Poole.

Peggy is survived by one son, Robert Poole and wife Nancy of Pampa; grandchildren, Greg Poole and wife Marsha of Pampa, Mandy Guerrero and husband Jared of Pampa, Kandra Rodriguez and husband Damian of Dumas, Megan Wilkes and husband Chris of Pampa, Andrew Poole and wife Ashley of Cross Plains; daughter-in-law, Andra Jackson of Cross Plains; great-grandchildren, Dallon Poole and wife Jessica, Holland Poole, Remington Estes, Reagan Hughes, Caitlin Smith, Zoey Rodriguez, Ben Rodriguez, Brooklyn Wilkes, Alayna Chance, Zach Chance, Espyn Poole, and Preston Poole; and great-great grandchildren, Ryker Poole and Gypsum Poole.
