Randy DeWayne Carpenter, age 65, of Hemphill County, passed away peacefully on June 18th, 2026, surrounded by family, loved ones, and undoubtedly a few stories that had already been told more than once.

Born on December 13, 1960, in Pampa, Texas, Randy spent his life chasing horizons and gathering stories. His life could be defined by hard work, creating lasting memories, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved most. After graduating from West Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree, he spent his life building careers and traveling many roads. His professional journey included restaurant management, insurance, automotive sales, and his personal favorite, truck driving. Wherever the road led, he carried with him a quick wit, a generous heart, and a knack for making every moment memorable. Whether you knew him for five minutes or fifty years, chances are you walked away with a story, a laugh, or both.

He is survived by his four children, Chandler Carpenter, Maurley Carpenter, Kendall Carpenter and wife, Jolina Carpenter, along with their son, Blake Carpenter, Landry Carpenter and her partner, Roman Torres. He is also survived by his three siblings, Donna Porter and husband Bud, Cathey Huguley and husband John, Rick Carpenter and wife Connie; his fiancé, Amy Alexander and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Carol Carpenter; the mother of his children, Luanne Carpenter as well as a brother-in-law, Bret Bell.

Some lives are measured in years; however, Randy’s is measured in laughter shared across kitchen tables, miles traveled beneath wide Texas skies, and the countless hearts that are better for having known him. His legacy lives on through the family he loved deeply, the friendships he treasured, and the numerous lives he touched through the years. Though he has taken his final ride, the stories, laughter, and memories he leaves behind will continue to be shared for generations. He will be deeply missed, proudly remembered, and probably blamed for a few tall tales long after he’s gone.

The family will be celebrating his life at a later date.  They have entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
