Over the weekend, the community of Pampa came out to support the Pampa Knights Track Team car wash.

The purpose of the car wash was to raise funds for the team’s entry fees and food at the District Track and Field District Meet.

Chris Phillips, the Owner of Pampa Tire & Glass and coach of the Pampa Knights, spoke about the success of the car wash over Memorial Day weekend.

“The Pampa community did well in supporting us,” Phillips said. “The car wash was a big success. We raised enough money to pay for all of the entry fees, snacks, and drinks for the kids. It was great.”

The car wash is just the beginning of the fund raising endeavors the Pampa Knights have in store. There are two more car wash events in store, one of which will be happening later this month.

“We will have a track meet in Allen, TX on June 24th,” Phillips said. “The track meets are eight hours long. These car washes will help pay for the event fees, snacks, and drinks.”

In addition, the Pampa Knights are also selling raffle tickets to raise funds for the State Track and Field Meet. This event, unlike the others, will be a four-day long event beginning on July 17th. The event will be held at South Padre Island, near Brownsville, TX.

“Getting to State will be costly. We’re talking about raising funds for gas, food, and sleeping arrangements,” Phillips said. “All the money we raise will go straight to the kids to help pay their way to State.”

Phillips commented on the community support that the Pampa Knights have received.

“Everything helps when it comes to supporting our youth,” Phillips said. “If people want to purchase raffle tickets, they can do so at Pampa Tire & Glass or reach out to us through Facebook.”
