Roberto Anguiano

Roberto Anguiano, 84 years old, of Pampa, Texas, while surrounded by his family at his bedside, took his Saviour’s hand and gently left this life to enter into eternal rest on the morning of Saturday, August 22, 2026.

He was born on June 7, 1943, in San Jose de Gomez, San Louis, Potosi, Mexico to Ascencion and Nicolasa Lopez Anguiano.

In his younger years, Roberto traveled to many places before settling in Pampa at the age of 17.  He married Alejandro Hernandez and together they had five children before they eventually went their separate ways. Then, through a mutual friend, he was introduced to Cathy Blair and after about three years of dating, they married on October 28, 1877, becoming a blended family.  Together they had two more children and with Cathy’s daughter, they now had eight children.

Roberto tried working in the oilfield for a short stint, however, that was not for him!  He much rather stuck to a skill he preferred on the roof.  He worked for Parsley Sheet and Metal roofing for approximately 40 years before retiring.

A child at heart, Roberto loved having fun!  He was always the entertainment no matter where he was, whether he was on his bicycle, playing with the grandkids, or just acting silly.  He had a huge tender heart that loved everyone.  He was an extremely hard worker and enjoyed playing hard as well.  Although Roberto lived here, he never lost his love for Mexico.  He traveled there and joined in the Mexican celebrations as often as he could.  His wife explained that he “had the best of both world’s” because he loved both places so much and spent much time in each one.  Roberto may have had his silly side, but he was also serious and even a bit rebellious and he did what he wanted.  He loved his catholic traditions and when in Mexico he wasn’t afraid to take the long, tedious hike to the sacred grounds to pray.  That was very important to him.  His playfulness and longing to always laugh and smile will be missed by all those who have had the privilege of knowing him.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents and siblings, Basilio Anguiano Lopez, Maria Elena Anguiano, and Maria Anguiano.

His memory and cherished spirit will be cherished by his loving wife of 50 years, Cathy Anguiano of Pampa; eight children, Apolo Anguiano and wife Janet, Maria Anguiano and husband Manuel, Porfirio Anguiano, Maria de Jesus and husband Francisco, Ascencion Anguiano and wife Natalia, Patricia Gonzalez and husband Ricardo, Roberto Anguiano and wife Angela, Angela Moreno; six siblings, Asuncion Anguiano, Pablo Anguiano, Anastacia Anguiano, Francisca Anguiano, Sotore Anguiano, Juan Anguiano; 27 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members who will all miss his enormous smile and love of laughter.

For those preferring to make a donation in memory of Roberto, the family suggests they be made to Snack Pak 4 Kids, 701 Park Place Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101, or online at www.sp4k.org/donate in honor of his love for children.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 28, 2026, at Winegeart Funeral Home in the Serenity Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Buck officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.  The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
