Russell “Rusty” Lynn Matlock passed away Wednesday, January 19th, 2022 surrounded by family at the age 64 years old. He was the 1st of 4 children born to Rose Lee Moody and Bobby Dale Matlock in Pampa, Texas.

Rusty was known for being a prankster and a goofball; stubborn as a mule. But he was also known for fiercely loving and caring for those around him, especially his family. His notorious love for singing brought him to Crowley’s Ridge College in northeast Arkansas, where he would become part of the a cappella singing group, The Ambassadors. Through this touring quartet, he would meet his wife, Dorla. Rusty and Dorla later relocated to Edmond, OK to finish their degrees, where they would remain and raise their two children, Joshua and Kristen.

In his early years, Rusty enjoyed playing pickup basketball, table tennis, and weightlifting (until all these activities caused him many surgeries). His favorite pastime with friends and family was beating everyone at cards and board games. His devotion to his children was insurmountable, spending every extra dollar and hour supporting their extra-curricular activities. He had a work ethic that was unmatched and taught his children to be the best they could be, while still allowing themselves grace. Most of all, he loved the Lord and cared for His children and their eternal Salvation... he was a true Ambassador for Jesus.

Rusty is preceded in death by his mother, Rose Lee; father, Bobby Dale; and step-father, Bill Sheehan. Rusty is survived by his wife, Dorla, of Edmond, OK; son, Joshua, and wife Christina, of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Kristen, and husband, Jake, of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Curtis, of Pampa, TX; sister, Lesia, and husband, Mark, of Mound Ridge, KS; sister, Shelley, and husband, Chad, of Skellytown, TX; and a host of extended family and friends to carry on his memory.

Celebration of life will be Thursday, January 27th, at 2:00 pm at the Edmond Church of Christ.
