Sonia Vigil, 67, of Pampa, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Sonia was born on April 30, 1955 in Bisenti, Italy. She was adopted by Hector and Dorothy Ozzello. She was raised in Trinidad and was a 1973 graduate of Trinidad High School. Sonia met the love of her life, Juan Vigil, while she was in high school. After high school, Sonia and Juan moved to Pueblo, Colorado where they worked in the fields. They moved to Pampa in 1980. Sonia worked in a bakery for several years before becoming a home health aide. She enjoyed spending time at home with her three dogs. Sonia was an excellent cook and baker; she was famous for her cheesecake. She was a long-time member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Sonia will be remembered for her kind heart and quick-witted humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister-in-law, Susan Ozzello; one nephew, Luciano Ozzello; and one nephew-in-law, Alfonso Vigil.
Sonia is survived by her husband, Juan Vigil of the home; four siblings, Sandra Buck of Pueblo West, Colorado, Rita Ermolai of Pescara, Italy, Marcello Medori of Zurich, Switzerland, and Joe Ozzello of Walsenburg, Colorado; her three dogs, Maddie, Molly, and Mazie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
