Gavin Smith of the Pampa Texas Boxing Club delivered an outstanding performance this weekend at the Golden Gloves Tournament in Lubbock, earning a championship victory and securing his spot in the State Golden Gloves Tournament in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Competing in the 165-pound division, Smith fought his way through tough competition, advanced to the finals, and claimed the championship title, showcasing skill, discipline, and determination beyond his years.

Smith has been training with the Pampa Texas Boxing Club for two years, where he has shown steady growth and rapid development. Coaches say his dedication, work ethic, and commitment to the sport are already setting him apart.

“Gavin has put in the work day after day,” said his coach. “He’s disciplined, focused, and constantly pushing himself to improve. He’s already showing signs of becoming something special.”

With this victory, Smith will represent the Pampa Texas Boxing Club at the State Golden Gloves Tournament on March 10-14, facing top competition from across Texas.

As he prepares for the next stage, Smith continues to train hard, determined to carry the momentum forward and make his hometown proud.

Cris thanks Reliant Holdings for helping the club in renewing their license for the new year, and Knucklehead Services, Alpha Overhead Door, and Apodaca Brothers for always finding ways to help out the club.

He gives special recognition to Aaron Villegas, whose son Levi is an upcoming fighter in the club. Aaron has been instrumental in helping secure funding through his job at Phillips 66, providing vital support to keep the club running throughout the year. In addition to fundraising, Aaron generously volunteers his time working with the kids and has gone a step further by becoming an official for the club, helping support the West Texas LBC through officiating. His dedication, service and commitment to the program play a major role in the continued growth and success of the club.

He also thanks his wife Tereza Larrazolo for working behind the scenes in running the club and the support she gives to Cris and his dream; and to his father, Lupe Larrazolo, for putting time into the fighters through coaching and helping make it all possible.
