Yong Howeth, 79, of Pampa, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024 in Pampa.

Services are pending with Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Yong was born on April 7, 1945 in Chonnam-do, South Korea to Yong Sop Pak and Su Chon Kim Pak.

She married Jimmy Wayne Howeth on February 13, 1974 in Seoul, South Korea. They moved to Pampa in the late 1970’s where they raised their family.

Yong enjoyed fishing, gardening, and being outside. She also enjoyed spending time gambling at the casinos and loved when the “cherries were hot”.

Yong looked forward to spending time with her family, especially when they were celebrating holidays. She also loved her grand dog, Blaze.

Yong was very independent and strong-willed. She had no issues about letting you know her opinions, but it always came from a place of love.

Yong cleaned houses for several years and worked hard for everything she had.

She loved deeply and was loved deeply in return. Yong was incredibly proud of her children.

She was always willing to help anyone in need. Yong was also a little sneaky when it came to getting her way, notably in her later years.

She will be greatly missed by her family.

Yong was preceded in death by her parents, Yong Sop Pak and Su Shon Pak; her husband, Jimmy Howeth; one son, Jerry Howeth; one sister, Chong Ea Janaway; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Scott.

She is survived by her two sons, John Howeth and wife Heather of Borger and Jamie Howeth and fiancée Christina Germain of Pampa; one sister, Chong Herrod of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and several other siblings; nephew, Tommy Janaway; niece, Katherine Herrod; and several other extended family members.

Memorials may be sent to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, Texas, 75380.
