2024: Year in Review

Posted

2024 is almost over and as we reflect on all our little town has offered this year, it gives more reason as to why Pampa has the greatest community in Texas.

The beginning of 2024 was a rough one with the wildfires that devastated the Panhandle in February, but as with any catastrophe, the people banded together and helped each other to rebuild. The citizens of this great state showed the world what they’re made of: grit and selflessness.

While Pampa has many annual events throughout the year, every now and again a new event will make a grand appearance such as the Summer Block Party at the Meredith Court and the Labor Day Celebration held by the City of Pampa and Chamber of Commerce. The Pampa VFW Post 1657 also rang in the new year with their first New Years Eve Bash and are excited to host the event again tonight. Whatever the season, the events held in this town are always community-inclusive and family-friendly.

2024 also brought in new restaurants such as GoGo’s Place with their cluckin’ good chicken, The Fletcher Br0s with their mouth watering Navajo tacos, award-winning Laura’s Country Kitchen, and Sam’s Southern Eatery that kicked off the year with their famous fried fish and gumbo.

Beautiful renovations were also made during the year to our historic downtown, the new sidewalks and railings accentuating the many storefronts of the beloved local businesses, with Jade + Co adding to the ever-growing list and the new and improved Tralee Thriftique Store. Groundbreaking also started for a new housing complex and big plans are now in the works for renovations to the Pampa Youth & Community Center.

As we say goodbye to 2024, we are excited to see what 2025 will bring. Happy New Year from all of us at The Pampa News!
