Wynd Golf Apparel: Bringing Comfort and Style to the Course

Posted

When it comes to leisurely activities, golf is one of the most popular sports out there to relax, have fun and get some sun, weather permitting of course. Though even when the Texas panhandle wind is blowing, avid players still hit the green.

But what’s a great round of golf without your attire feeling good and looking good as you hit those 18 holes? That’s where Wynd Golf comes in.

Started by Pampa native Jordan Lemons, Wynd Golf is a brand new line of clothing made specifically for those who love the game, centered around comfort, affordability, and style.

Jordan’s passion for golf started many years ago, but it wasn’t until he met his wife, Ashlen, when his passion became less of a hobby and more of a family affair.

“For as long as I can remember, we’ve all always loved to golf,” Jordan said. “My wife really got me into it more than I already was. She played golf all throughout high school, so whenever I met her, she made my golf addiction a little bit stronger than it already was. Her dad really golfed a lot too and her sister does, so I kind of just fell right into it. Then we had kids and we wanted our daughters to play golf too, so we’ve raised our daughters essentially from the time they could walk to swinging golf clubs.”

Getting the entire family involved in a sport that typically requires quite a bit of time spent together, Jordan had the vision that he, his wife, and daughters all wore matching attire during their time together on the course. It was within that vision when he had a realization that what he wanted wasn’t exactly readily available.

“I started thinking that I’d like to match with my daughters and my wife, just wearing some nice polos that match or were similar, but there’s nothing really out there that are like family sets or polos for little girls, or even men’s and women’s that looked similar. My end goal is to have polos for the whole family that whether they match or the colors are similar, the family can go out on a Saturday evening or a Sunday evening and play golf, take pictures, have fun, and just enjoy their time on the golf course as a family.”

Quality time spent should involve quality attire, so during the planning phase of the new business, Jordan referred to his own experiences with buying and wearing golf apparel, taking into consideration the feel down to the price.

“You go to these golf shops and you find a polo, it’s good quality, but you’re going to pay $80-100+ for it. Me personally, I love golf and I love the golf polo styles and looking good on the course, but sometimes I’m like, ‘man, I really don’t want to pay that.’ So I set all my polo prices to $62, something a little bit lower, but still offers the same quality or better than the polos you’re spending more than $80 on. These polos offer a four-way stretch, they’ve got stiffer collars so after a couple of washes, they’re not just flopping around in the wind or anything like that, we’ve got UPS protection-they’re really great polos. I’ve bought a lot of different polos, and I’m putting mine right up there next to the big guys.”

Speaking of wind, the name and the logo are completely inspired by the Texas panhandle’s most notorious, year-round element that can turn a relaxing game of golf into a frustrating cat and mouse chase with a lightweight, little white ball.

“As we were talking about earlier, it’s super windy right now, and it’s just super fitting for here,” Jordan laughed. “That’s why I wanted to name my golf brand Wynd, and every time a golfer talks about the wind, they’re essentially saying Wynd Golf, so I’ll take that.”

Jordan launched his clothing line back in August with a few graphic tees, adding hats a couple of weeks later, and as of just two weeks ago, he has officially added his line of polos. Each item carries the Wynd brand name, as well as a ‘Wynd’ blown tree, paying tribute to the place that Jordan calls home. He reiterates that this line is not made solely for folks in the Texas panhandle, but for everyone who loves the game and loves to look good playing it. Although he did mention that in the near future, he will be adding special attire that will be marked by Pampa pride.

Every successful business startup requires an immense amount of patience, and Jordan, although his dreams and goals are big, is starting off small and smart.

“I’m super excited about it. I’m trying to keep myself on a straight and narrow, not jump ahead of myself and just not rush into things too quickly. I’m eager to get out the women’s and kid’s polos just so my daughters and wife and everyone else can start to see everything we’re about, but we’re just taking it one day at a time. We’re going slow, but we’re getting there.”

Jordan has the support of not only his family, but local businesses here in Pampa as well who actively participate in the creation of Jordan’s products.

“I’m actually using Wayne’s Western Wear as my hat distributor, and they do awesome work and have really taken good care of me. My graphic tees are made locally here as well. My wife makes half of the graphic tees for me, so it’s really a family affair. I have my kids help me pick out design colors and stuff like that. We’re all in it together.”

Jordan’s inspiration to take this leap of faith didn’t only come from his love of the game, but by his own family, specifically his daughters.

“My oldest daughter is my brave child. She wanted to sell bows, so her and her mom made bows and she’ll post a video on Facebook talking about them and selling them. She wanted to sing karaoke at Weekends, and she got up there with no hesitation and sung in front of people. I’m just taking a play out of her book and following her lead, and she’s actually shown me a lot. With her being so brave as just a five-year-old girl doing all this stuff, I knew I had to do something for them.”

Jordan and his family are excited to embark on this new business venture, and though the wind may blow, Wynd Golf apparel will certainly make you look good and feel good as you’re walking the nine, peferably matching with those you love.
