A Hallmark Christmas

Posted

Since July, Gary and Janice Gulick have been getting their home Christmas-ready for the 28th Christmas Tour of Homes organized by the Twentieth Century Cotillion Study Club and with all of the decor that has been perfectly placed throughout the entire house, it’s easy to see why they got started early.

The lighted decorations in the front yard are just a small indication of what’s on the inside, and immediately stepping foot through the door takes the guest to those traditional Christmases from distant memory, bringing a sense of nostalgia with it.

The living room and kitchen are open with no distinct walls separating the two, so the flow throughout the main areas gives guests the opportunity to see the entire theme of Christmas through a bigger window.

My eyes went directly to the impressive Christmas village, the pieces placed specifically in such a way that it appears the village has depth and character as if it is its own community.

The dining room and kitchen are warm and inviting, the style resembling something you would see in a ‘Home for Christmas’ postcard. Christmas pictures line the walls in the hallways leading to bedrooms that are just as beautifully decorated, down to even the bathroom that had Christmas-themed toilet tissue.

The back patio facing the east overlooks the rolling plains of the Texas Panhandle and is the perfect setting to watch the sun rise on Christmas morning, or any morning!

In the entry way is a unique piece of wall decor that is truly one-of-a-kind: a Christmas silhouette made from jewelry that Janice’s grandmother had collected over the years. To say the piece is impressive is an understatement and needs to be seen in person.

Christmas is Janice’s favorite holiday and every year her collection of decor gets bigger and bigger, prompting Gary to add more storage and shelving.

When it comes to decorating her home, Janice wants it to look like it came straight out of a Hallmark movie, and it certainly does.

Be sure to stop by 1712 Holly to see this gorgeous home and all of the hard work and love that was put into it.

The tour will be from 2 to 5 PM this Sunday, December 15 and is $20 at the door. All proceeds go toward The Opportunity Plan, Inc, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide financial assistance to students in post-secondary educational programs.
