A Love That Has Stood the Test of Time

A 74-Year love story began in the town of Wheeler, Tx in 1949.

Mary Bob Denson and Ray Laycock were introduced by Ray’s sister, Betty Laycock Coombs and cousin, Glenda Laycock Crossman while the three girls were in school together.

Ray and Mary Bob’s love grew and they became engaged and married on February 14th, 1951 in the home of the bride’s parents, Cecil and Lottie Eva Denson in Wheeler. This is where their journey began. At the time, Ray was 19 years old and Mary Bob was 16 years old.

Mary Bob completed high school and Ray went into the Service in the Medical Field during the Korean War.

Once Ray returned, they traveled to Pampa where Ray became a machinist with Cabot Corporation which spanned over 40 years until his retirement in 1993 as Foreman over the machine shop.

Mary Bob worked in accounting at Cabot Corporation until the mid 1980’s when she returned home to become a full time wife and homemaker.

After moving to Pampa and settling down, they built a home and their first born, Lyn, came into the world in August 1956 and two years later, as he called her, his Little Sister Linda was born in November 1958.

Mother and Daddy’s love has stayed strong throughout the years. As time passed, Rachel was born in 1980 and became part of our home. The following years brought two granddaughters, April and Alicia and in turn with the three girls, Mother and Daddy have become great-grandparents to two girls (Elyssa and Autumn) and nine boys (Connor, Luke, Ryan, Easton, Even, Eli, Jadon,Jace and Malcom) and recently great-great-grandparents to a little girl, Lina.

Today they still reside in the home they built together and their love continues to grow as does their family and are celebrating 74 years together. This year they will turn 94 and 91 years young.
