On Thursday, September 11, members of the Auxiliary and VFW Post 1657 of Pampa honored our first responders, putting together goodie baskets and personally delivering them to eight different locations.
Each delivery came with a handshake and a thank you for your service, a sentiment that has somehow become lost throughout the last couple of decades. But members of the Auxillary and VFW haven’t forgotten.
For the past few years, David Sieber, the patriotic instructor of the Auxiliary, organizes the event with the help of his wife, Tomi Seiber. Baskets are filled and the many members jump into their vehicles to hand deliver the goods. Capturing the appreciation reciprocated between the both sides is truly humbling.
“It seems like so many people have forgotten, but we want to let them know that we haven’t,” Tomi said.
The Pampa Fire Department, sheriff’s office, police department, fire station #2, Pampa Regional Medical Center, EMS, Hoover Volunteer Fire Department and the city’s constables received baskets filled with baked goods, snacks and basic essentials.
On behalf of The Pampa News, we thank all first responders for their service and we thank the Auxiliary and VFW for always keeping that promise: to Never Forget.
