Briarwood Church Tears Up Pregnancy Center

Posted

This past Saturday, Pastor Will Howell and approximately 30 members of Briarwood Church gathered at the Pregnancy Support Center, armed with sledgehammers, crowbars, and pickaxes, ready to make a difference. The group worked together to demolish several walls and ceilings, removing debris to prepare the building for major renovations.   All this preparation is to relocate Hope House Maternity Home to the Pregnancy Center property.

The Pregnancy Support Center was established in 1992, serving Pampa and the surrounding areas. This facility will provide shelter for moms and babies. And housing for house-parent families who will oversee and assist these women as they navigate motherhood.

While the men and boys focused on demolition, women cleaned and organized supplies in the Pregnancy Center. The volunteers enjoyed a time of fellowship while contributing to a meaningful cause. Monica Galloway, Executive Director, was impressed with the team’s efficiency and progress.

The team removed walls and ceiling, opening up a large section of the building, and they even left the area clean!

The Pregnancy Center provides

• Free pregnancy tests

• Ultrasounds: Medical Director, Dr. Tanner Neuman works with the Center to read the ultrasounds, allowing the mothers to see their babies growing.

• Housing through our maternity home

• Pregnancy & parenting education

When the baby is born, the Center continues to support the new mother with the essentials such as formula diapers, and clothing.

If you have questions or need their services, please call the Center at 806-669-2229.  They are open Monday through Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

As the volunteers wrapped up their work for the day, an unexpected moment brought some humor to the event. A young man wandered by with a dead phone battery, asking if he could send a text to a friend for a ride. When he mentioned the Pregnancy Support Center, his friend jokingly responded, “Is there something you’re not telling me?” This brought a few laughs to the busy and productive day

The Pregnancy Center remains grateful for the community’s generosity and ongoing support. The contributions of time, money, and resources from local individuals and businesses continue to make a lasting impact on the lives of mothers and their children.
