Ben and Maxine Watson are inviting everyone to come out to their beautiful home, located at 105 Condo Road, for the 28th Annual Christmas Tour of Homes organized by the Twentieth Century Cotillion Study Club this Sunday, December 15.
Since 2002, the Watsons have expanded and updated their home with a vision that is endless, with each renovation as a means to fully embrace the beautiful rolling plains view that can be seen through every window and door.
In 2009, they hired Shawn Deaver Construction to bring their ideas to life and in just three short months, a large den with a cathedral-style ceiling had been added as well as a master bedroom and bathroom. A patio was also added that runs along the entire length of the back of the house with a view of the Panhandle landscape. The windows on the north side of the home were replaced with French doors as well.
“I was just blown away with the work they (Shawn Deaver Construction) did,” Maxine Watson said. “I left them on their own and this is what they did for me. In just three months he added 1,100 square feet to my house.”
This summer, Maxine had an idea for her kitchen and brought Shawn Deaver Construction back into her home, and to no surpise to her, they once again did a fantastic job and she couldn’t be happier with the changes.
“This summer he gutted my kitchen down to the studs and completely remodeled it. He is an artist at what he does as a general contractor and I’m completely devoted to them.”
Maxine’s next project is to expand the back patio where the Watsons tend to spend most of their time.
The interior style of the home can be described as ‘Ecletic Traditional’ with many of the decor coming from estate sales, auctions, and from within the family that had been passed down.
Maxine has a keen eye for pieces of furniture or decor that can be repurposed and altered to suit her own personal style, and as soon as she purchases a piece, she quickly goes to work on it. She has no desire to follow trends and sticks with what she likes, making the home completely original to the owners’ personality and vision.
“I think in any home, there should always be things that make you smile. Your house should bring you joy and it should be a reflection of you.”
“In the 18 years I have of selling houses in real estate, I’ve never seen a house I wanted more than mine,” Maxine smiled. “I love where I live. I still have moments when I pull into my driveway and I have to pinch myself that it’s mine and we’ve taken a lot of ownership in it with the time and work we’ve put into it.”
So be sure to stop by the Watson Home for the Christmas Tour of Homes located at 105 Condo Road. With a 12 foot Christmas tree in the den and ‘Cleetus’ decked out in his Christmas best, the home is sure to put you in the spirit.
To get there, take Highway 70 north 8 miles to Winter Quarters Road and follow that for 1.3 miles. The gorgeous home is located on the corner of Winter Quarters and Condo Road.
The tour will be from 2 to 5 PM this Sunday, December 15 and is $20 at the door. All proceeds go toward The Opportunity Plan, Inc, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide financial assistance to students in post-secondary educational programs.
