City Election Results, Words from Newly Elected Officials

Posted

On Saturday, May 3, residents of Pampa anxiously awaited to see who would fill the places for Mayor, City Commissioner Ward 1, and Pampa ISD Board of Trustees Place 4, with only two of those positions being announced.

For City Commissioner Ward 1, Wendi Miller Horst garnered 61.4% (964) votes, and for Pampa ISD Board of Trustees Place 4, Kaleb Snelgrooes garnered 65.18% of the votes. The results for the Board of Trustees will remain unofficial until all votes are canvassed at a special Pampa ISD board meeting on May 8, 2025, and the results for the city positions will remain unofficial until all votes are canvassed at the City Commission meeting on May 12.

Because none of the mayoral candidates received more than 50% of the votes, there will be a runoff election on June 7 between Jimmy Chaney, who received 38.17% (623) votes and Mike Borger who received 44.55% (727) votes.

Both Wendi and Kaleb expressed their excitement and gratitude regarding the journey they are about to embark in serving the community.

“I feel amazing, elated, and blessed,” Wendi said. “I’m in shock more than anything because I wasn’t really sure about going up against someone who knew so much and had the experience. I’m grateful for my family that supported me through it and I’m grateful for God.”

“I can’t wait for new businesses to come in and to meet new business owners and to just talk about how great Pampa is, I’m just so excited. It’s going to be great.”

“I think everybody is looking for a change and there’s no better time now than the present.”

“I just want to thank the people of Pampa who showed up to vote and came out to support Collin and myself and for the people who came out to support our education system and our kids,” Kaleb said. “I’m just ready to get in there with the board that we have and get started.”

“I know I’ve got big shoes to fill. Mr. Nava was a part of that board for many years, and he and I spoke several times and he told me to always keep the kids and teachers the main thing.”

“We have a great board with a great superintendent. We’re going in the right direction and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Congratulations to both Wendi and Kaleb and best of luck on your new endeavors!

Words from Jimmy Chaney and Mike Borger will follow in a later edition on what they plan to do moving forward until the runoff election, so keep your eyes peeled!
