Come Celebrate the Holidays with the Chaneys

Jimmy and Amy Chaney are opening up their home this Sunday, December 15 for the 28th Annual Christmas Tour of Homes organized by the Twentieth Century Cotillion Study Club.

Their gorgeous home, located at 2005 Charles, features four beautiful Christmas trees with each one decorated with keepsakes and memories collected over the years. Many of the ornaments are generational, from Baby’s First Christmas to Precious Moments Angels passed down from Jimmy and Amy’s grandparents.

“This tree in the dining room is special to Jimmy and I both because it has a lot of fun ornaments on it, but also if you look at all of these ornaments here, those are all ornaments that his grandmother or my grandmother gave either to us or our children throughout their lifetime,” Amy said. “It has a lot of sentimental value to us and it’s one of our favorites.”

The nutcracker tree just around the corner fits perfectly with the literal wall of nutcrackers that Jimmy has collected over the years, each one holding a different personality of its own.

Both Amy and Jimmy have started their own collection of decorations and ornaments with the hopes of them too being passed down through their kids and grandkids and future generations to come.

“We love decorating for Christmas, it truly is something magical,” Amy said. “Christmas was always my favorite time growing up and being able to have parts of our grandmothers that have been passed down to us is special. I’ve started a collection for our grandkids and we just hope that some day they will have them and treasure them as much as we treasure ours from our grandmothers.”

The Chaney Home tour will feature Chef Sharon Masenda who will be fixing up delicious hors d’oeuvres, sparkling drinks, charcuterie boards and a hot chocolate bar with Santa Claus himself greeting folks at the door.

Many surprises await their tour, and the Chaneys are excited to invite you over for a festive holiday treat right here at home.

The tour will be from 5 to 7 PM this Sunday, December 15 and is $20 at the door. All proceeds go toward The Opportunity Plan, Inc, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide financial assistance to students in post-secondary educational programs.
