Decals with Family and Football Captains Announced

Before Friday’s game, the Pampa High School football players and their families gathered at the Commons building to place decals on their helmets, signifying a brand new football season centered around Harvester tradition and Pampa pride.

Head Football Coach Floyd White welcomed the players and their families as they joined in for the event, emphasizing what it means to be with family during this special event and what makes it so special.

“Thank you all so much for coming out,” he said. “One of the highlights of your high school career is the chance to put that ‘P’ on your helmet and those numbers on the side. You get to do all those things that come along with being a varsity football player. To me, one of the most special times is being able to do this with your family, so that’s why we do this. We originally called it ‘Decals With Dads’, then we started calling it ‘Decals With Family’ because we want more family members joining this special event. From me to you, thank you all so much for all the time and everything that you have put into our program and all that you have put into your kids because we have a tremendous group of young men. We wouldn’t have them without great parents, grandparents, and everyone else who helped them grow. Guys, make sure you give your parents a hug, your grandparents a hug, and say thank you to all those around you.”

Coach White then introduced this season’s football captains: Cy Leblanc, Ira Smith, Kiaro Florez, and Phoenix Lopez.

After the announcement of the captains, Coach White introduced a few special guests who played a big part in that day’s decal event, but their story will be published in the Thursday, September 10 edition of The Pampa News, so be sure to keep a look out!
