Little Miss Harper Henry is barely five years old, but she’s got the wit and confidence that will certainly take her anywhere her heart desires, and that includes to the top. It was clear to Harper’s parents that there was something truly unique about her character, and chose to shine a spotlight on the little lady who has no problem lighting up a room.
“She is such a special kid,” proud mama Kayla Henry said. “She is very animated and loves being on a stage. On St. Patrick’s Day weekend, we decided to have her try out for a pageant, and her first weekend, she won overall talent and overall interview. I don’t really care about the modeling stuff, but the life skills that she is learning like being in front of people and performing in front of a crowd, but also doing the interviews where she has to sit and make contact with people, shake hands, and answer questions-that’s a life skill that I feel we’re losing nowadays. So that’s what is really important to me.”
Harper turned five in May, so at four years old, she has already made quite the name for herself, recently competing in the state competition and bringing home the crown, and now she will head to the national competition next month, having a ton of fun along the way.
“This is her fourth pageant which was the state pageant. The other three were preliminary for the state, and at state, she won every title she could at her age division. The state pageant is actually two separate pageants, and the first one is called The Diamond Girl where they get to do a lot of fun things. She did like New York Fashion Week and they had to do stripes and polka dots, a PJ, and a party dress, and then she had to do a talent, which for her is a cooking show that’s a three-minute monologue and it’s just so cute and impressive for a four year old. The other pageant is Diamond Miss, which is where they do a casual wear, a formal party dress, and they have to do their talent again, and then she does the interview. She just rocked it and it’s so much fun to watch her.”
Kayla says that Harper is her own person and these personality traits that she possesses are truly her own, and she is excited to see where they will lead her through life.
“This is who she is. She rules the room when she walks in. I just want her to stay confident. I think every little girl loses that confidence at some point in their life, so I’m hoping with us doing this or something like this and getting her in front of people and being able to speak to people will help. I think kids these days are losing that, losing the ability to have a conversation. I just hope she is able to do whatever she wants to do. I want her to believe in herself and to know she can do anything she sets her heart and mind to.”
Congratulations to Miss Harper on her fabulous achievements, and we wish her the absolute best of luck for the national competition!
