The Well STEAM & Literacy Center and Intersect Power have partnered to offer a wide range of summer programs for children in pre-k through 12th grade, at more affordable rates than ever before.
“Our goal is simply to get as many students, for as many hours as possible, out of the house and away from screens where they can learn, have fun and build good relationships,” explained Paul Rayburn, executive director of The Well.
The Well’s 39 summer offerings include science camps, culinary and visual arts programs, sports camps, music theater and more. While their rates have always been relatively low, Intersect Power’s donation enabled The Well to reduce the cost to families by 40% - 50% on most of these programs.
Rayburn explained, “We know the economy has just hit everyone hard, and most people don’t have the margin they used to have. But kids still need to develop mentally, emotionally and physically over the summer. Money, or the lack thereof should not get in the way of that.”
With summer programs kicking off the first week of June, enrollment numbers are already significantly higher than last year. “In 2024 we were seeing most of our camps at a 50% - 60% capacity. This year, we’re above 80% this first week, and we have waiting lists for several camps still to come this summer,” said Rayburn.
This is not the first time The Well and Intersect have worked together. Last summer, Intersect Power donated almost $8,000 for the purchase of equipment and supplies for The Well’s summer programs.
In addition to the donation, the Intersect Power team volunteered at the Pampa Community Garden, working alongside The Well’s staff, students, and parents. They helped to build and clean garden beds and tackled larger projects like priming and painting the fence, mowing the lawn, and pulling weeds.
Elizabeth Knowles, Head of Community Engagement for Intersect Power commented, “The engaging programs The Well provides for children in the area consistently impress us, offering a wonderful space where kids can learn new things and truly enjoy their summer. Our ongoing partnership is something we deeply value as part of our commitment to this community, and we’re excited to continue our support to help even more families participate.” Elizabeth Knowles, Head of Community Engagement for Intersect Power
“We are so very thankful to the folks at Intersect Power,” remarked Rayburn, “We’re so impressed with their generosity and struck by how much they truly care about our community. This isn’t just a PR for them. These are real people with big hearts.”
