Jerry Glen Davis, 91, of Pampa, passed away on September 6, 2023, in Pampa.

Services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Colonial Chapel with Herb Smith of Everyman’s Bible Class, officiating. A burial will follow at Memory Gardens under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Jerry will be available for viewing from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM on Monday, and from 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jerry was born on June 18, 1932, in Pampa to Robert and Hazel Davis. He grew up and graduated from school in Pampa. After graduating high school, he enrolled at Texas Tech University, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration. After graduating college, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.

After his service, Jerry began his long career in accounting earning his CPA certificate in 1961. He worked for Peat, Marwick, and Mitchell from 1957-1960, and then for Leon Hoyt & Co. through 1961-1964. Thereafter, Jerry started his own accounting firm in 1969 and continued until 2010.

When he was a younger man, Jerry was generous with his time and he was very active in the Boy Scouts, serving as a Scout Master for several years and volunteering for the American Red Cross. Jerry was also a longstanding member of the Kiwanis Club and served as the Lieutenant Governor. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Every Man’s Bible Study Class.

Jerry was dedicated to his profession and to his clients and he worked countless hours to serve his customers. In his spare time, he loved to golf, and he could always be found at the Hidden Hills golf course. Jerry also enjoyed sailing, and he and his son, Glen would spend cherished times down at the coast. He will be remembered as a highly intelligent man who was charitable with his talents, time, and resources.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Glen Davis; a brother, Bill Davis; and a granddaughter, Evangeline Davis.

Jerry is survived by two daughters, Suzan Davis of Albuquerque, N.M., and Sharon Davis of Lubbock; a granddaughter, Audrey Davis of Lubbock; a grandson, Stephen Davis of Houston; a sister, Joyce Thomas and husband Bill of Corpus Christi; and nieces, nephews, and other family.
