Jo Veda Fleming was born the eldest child and only daughter to Joe and Nell Fleming in 1934. She attended Pioneer school unil its closing and then attended and graduated from Cross Plains in 1953.
She then moved to Pampa in 1955 and went skating at the Pampa Roller Rink one snowy evening with some girlfriends where her beauty caught the eye of the handsome Willard (Bill) Watson, owner of the rink.
Bill and Jo Veda began dating and were engaged two weeks later. They were married in Cross Plains in June 1956 and made their home in Pampa.
They were soon blessed with three children, Alton, Julie, and Billy. Afer the children were older, Jo Veda went to work as a secretary for Highland Baptist Church while still helping Bill with operations and lessons at the skatng rink.
Upon Bill’s retirement in 1987, they moved to Brownwood Lake to be close to Jo Veda’s parents in Cross Plains. Jo Veda and Bill both took jobs at the 4-H Center at Brownwood Lake. They lived happily at their Lakehouse near Byrds Store until Bill’s passing in 2006.
Two years later, Jo Veda Became reacquainted with a high school beau, Neil Bush. Neil and Jo Veda were married in 2009 and resided in Lubbock, Texas until Neil’s passing in 2016.
At that time Jo Veda moved to Uvalde to live with her daughter, Julie, and son-in-law, Rob, until her passing in 2025.
Jo Veda was known to everyone as a sweet, kind, and caring spirit. She was a truly devoted and loving Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Jo Veda brough joy and laughter into the lives of everyone she met. She will be greatly missed until we are all once again reunited in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jo Veda is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Nell Fleming; husband Bill Watson; son Billy Watson; 2nd husband Neil Bush; brother Glen Fleming; and brother Jerry Fleming.
She is survived by her son Alton Watson of Fritch; daughter Julie Robinson of Uvalde; brother Jim Fleming of Cross Plains; grandson Christopher Robinson of Uvalde; granddaughter Jamie Kimbrough of San Antonio; grandson Zach Watson of San Angelo; grandson Billy Watson of Austin; granddaughter Abigail Watson of Fritch and great grandchildren Madison and Conner Kimbrough and Karleigh and Brynlee Watson.
