Local Herbalist, Creator of Mermaid Magic Re-Launches Popular Hair Product
Serenity Ford of Pampa is a well-known local herbalist, healer and personal coach. She’s also the creator of Mermaid Magic, a highly successful drink supplement she created herself.
“I actually have an entire apothecary of products I make,” Ford said.
“I’ve been a certified Herbalist since 2018 and have enjoyed making botanical skincare and body products since. These include, but aren’t limited to- skin and body oils, healing teas, tinctures, body butters and more.”
“My most popular product however, is Mermaid Magic. Simply put, it is a gel made using St. Lucian sourced sea moss, fruit, agave, lime and spring water. I was able to run a sale last month and I asked everybody to help me raise money- within two days I raised about $1,200 to cover the cost of a freeze dryer, because I’m wanting to create Mermaid Magic powders for people to add to their drinks easily and for them to be more shelf stable.”
Along with the re-vamp of Mermaid Magic, Ford is re-launching some of her hair products she shelved after closing her store in Pampa in 2022. Brought back by popular demand, botanical hair oils are now available once again.
“I’ve made hair oils, but this is something that people have asked for me to bring back because with my store (Red Moon, open 2021-2022 in Pampa), I kind of went crazy and made a whole bunch of stuff. When I closed my store, I ended up having to sell all of my products in bulk. So this time, I told myself that I’m not going to just go crazy and make a whole bunch of stuff unless there’s a demand for it and there has been a pretty heavy demand for these hair oils.”
Hair Potion, Ford’s own creation, is formulated to promote massive hair growth and strength. Star ingredients include pumpkin seed oil, argan oil and supporting essential oils like rosemary and peppermint.

“Along with herbal products, I am also a doctorate student of natural medicine and have a large clientele in Pampa and all over the country (including Mexico) whom I coach in natural wellness and hormones. My specialty is women’s health: fertility, pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Did I mention I am a doula?” Ford asked.

“I’m going to be working virtually and doing pop-ups at local businesses and events. I’ve been working closely with Sweet T’s, the Rose Quartz and other local entrepreneurs. It’s been really fun,” she shared.
